| Heather and I have been friends for 20 years. We ran track at Lane Technical High School together, and we also attended NIU together, for a time room-mates in Neptune West Hall, and also at 305 College Ave. She came to visit us from Chicago in late Dec. 2006. I hadn't seen her in about 4 years, so it was wonderful that she hopped a plane out here. We rode the Verde Canyon Railroad, drank martinis, walked uptown in the rain, had coffee in fogbound Jerome, ate lots of steak (like for every meal, even breakfast I kid you not), went romping around Sedona red rocks, went to the gym, and one frosty morning did a 7 mile run around Tuzigoot and Tavasci Marsh in Clarkdale that included getting lost and having to climb under barbed wire. Heather works for Boeing, is in training for her 2nd Boston Marathon, is super fit...and I am well... none of those things, but still we are bestest buddies. Also, Heather really loved Ivan, as evidenced by the photos. I think Ivan was her favorite part of the trip. |
